2020 USA Triathlon East Junior Select Camp
June 26 - June 29
WE ARE GOING VIRTUAL!!!
The cancellation of major ITU and USA Triathlon events along with the closure of available training facilities have forced us to change the 2020 Camps. We will be doing a virtual camp which will have athletes training with the coaches in full classroom settings as well as small groups (3 athletes) working in breakout skill sessions. We are working out the kinks now, but have had great results in the sessions so far. We know that you will get a lot out of this experience. We expect athletes not just from the US but other countries as well.
We are limiting the camp to 15 athletes. If there is demand, we will add a second session.
Here is what you will need to participate in addition to your regular triathlon gear:
- Laptop computer running Chrome with a working web cam, and strong wifi (you can also plug directly in to your internet with an ethernet cable) You can also use a phone or tablet.
- Bike, trainer, helmet
- Light resistance stretch cords or surgical tubing
- Cones or water bottles
- Any weights or kettlebells
- If you have a backyard pool you will need good internet and a swim tether
- A space on grass or driveway to work on cycling and transitions
As we get closer, detailed instructions will be sent to all athletes. We really hope to have you at camp! And yes! There will be T-Shirts!
Camp Tuition- $450 (plus a $15 processing fee)
Invitation / Qualification Required
If you have received an invitation to this years East Select Camp. Contact Camp Director Matt Valyo via the contact box below to be sent your registration form. Once the form is returned, an invoice for the camp fee will be sent.
The Select Camp is by invitation only and focuses on advanced knowledge and skill sets to prepare athletes for national and international level competition. Athletes invited to Select Camps generally have solid results in draft legal events, strong benchmarks, or stand out performance in a single sport such as a state championship. 3 - Qualifying benchmarks (contact the camp director, this is a ONE TIME qualification)
4 - Standout Single Sport Performance (state championship, regional/national/international competition)
5 - USA Triathlon High Performance Staff recommendation
If you are unsure whether you are eligible for an invitation, use the contact box at the bottom of the page to get in touch with Camp Director Matt Valyo. You will be asked to send an athlete resume with relevant PR’s and race results in order for you to be considered for an invitation. The ages for this camp are 15 to 18 years old as of December 31st.
